Thirty Bench Winemaker’s Blend Rosé 2021 VQA NIAGARA PENINSULA VQA

WINE MAKING
The 2021 Winemaker’s Blend Rosé is a blend of 66.1% Pinot Noir, 18.2% Pinot Meunier, 14.2% Gamay Noir, and 1.5% Riesling. The Pinot Meunier and Pinot Noir grapes were hand-picked and whole bunch pressed to ensure minimal colour and tannin extraction from the skins, the Gamay Noir was machine-picked and given a short period of skin contact time to develop the desired amount of colour and flavour.  All varieties were fermented in stainless steel tanks to ensure aromatics remained fresh and fruit-forward.

FLAVOUR PROFILE
A delicate coral pink colour with a fresh aroma of sweet cherry, watermelon, white peach, and summer flowers. A light-bodied, dry Rosé with a smooth yet refreshing mouthfeel, and fruit flavours of Rainier cherry, melon, and red berry, which also linger through on the finish.

WINE MAKING
Hand-picked and machine-picked grapes grown on our estate vineyard (54.9% Pinot Meunier, 25.1% Cabernet Franc, and 20% Pinot Noir).  The Pinot Noir grapes were pressed and fermented in older oak barrels. The Pinot Meunier and Cabernet Franc were loaded directly into the press and fermented like a white wine in a stainless-steel tank. The wines were aged in neutral barrels, then blended just before bottling.

FLAVOUR PROFILE
A bright orange pink in colour with a delicate aroma of red cherry, red currant, peach, and floral. A light to medium-bodied, dry Rosé with a smooth yet refreshing mouthfeel, and flavours of ripe red fruits. Notes of crab apple, red currant, earth, and red berry tea linger through on the finish.
