Thirty Bench Special Select Late Harvest Vidal 2019 VQA

WINE MAKING
Harvested from long-standing growers for Thirty Bench within Niagara-on-the-Lake. The wine was created from two varietals, 81% from Vidal (picked December 19, 2019 and January 20, 2020 at 34.1˚ Brix), and 19% from Riesling (picked December 18, 2019 and January 20, 2020 at 30.3˚ Brix) with an average Brix reading of 33.4˚. The juice was cool fermented in stainless steel, then aged ‘sur lie’ for an extended period of time to enhance mouthfeel and weight.
FLAVOUR PROFILE
Yellow gold colour with an alluring aroma of lemon marmalade, white peach purée, golden kiwi, mandarin orange, and exotic flowers. A medium-sweet, luscious, wine balanced perfectly between natural sweetness and bracing acidity. Wonderful flavours of marmalade, golden kiwi, lemon drops, and guava explode on the palate and linger on the finish with an added note of floral honey.
SERVING SUGGESTIONS
Serve chilled at 8 to 10˚C. Serve with desserts that are less sweet than the wine that may include flavours of peach, starfruit, mango, citrus, apricot, pear, kiwi, and apple. Lovely with apple strudel, poached pear, lemon pound cake, and apricot flan. Also enjoy with nut-based cakes, creamy custards, and carrot cake. For a flavour explosion serve with spicy Asian appetizers; salt cod canapés; Asiago, delicate blue cheese, and aged cheddar with a crusty baguette. This wine will continue to develop through 2025.
